The Answers You’ve Been Looking For

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER MY VISIT?

Yes.
Most insurance plans cover a portion of the fees or have an allocated amount of funding. Be sure to check with your insurance to see how the funding is allocated for speech- language pathology services, as specific details vary by each plan.
Additionally, you will need to continue monitoring your remaining coverage as you continue using the services.

ARE SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

CRA may cover speech-language pathology services as a medical expense. For a complete list of eligible medical expenses, visit the CRA website. Your eligibility is pending qualification by CRA.

WILL MY CHILD OUTGROW IT?

It is difficult to determine who will outgrow their challenges and who will not. Speech-Language Pathologists have skilled methods that can help get a clearer picture. Some signs that your child may need early services include: family history, developmental differences, communication frustration, prematurity, etc. A great rule of thumb is to “listen to your gut”. If you are worried or your child has risk factors, it is better not to “wait and see”. If a child faces communication challenges they may compensate with behaviour to communicate their needs. A consultation with a Speech Language Pathologist can help you navigate these concerns.
